He fell a sacrifice to the malignant fever which has proved so fatal to our army in Walcheren, and has left a widow, with an infant child, to deplore their irreparable loss. 21. At Falmouth, Mr Nathaniel Hingston, a merchant and contractor of the first respectability. This gentleman was of such great bulk and stature, that a part of his house was obliged to be pulled down, to permit him to be carried from his chamber. He was enclosed in three coffins-the external one of lead, which was 6 feet 6 inches long, 24 feet deep, and 3 feet 2 inches wide. He was drawn about ten miles, to the place of interment, on very strong wheels (for no hearse could bear him,) and put into the grave by tackles fixed to a large tree, which overhung the spot. 22. At Middleton, William Power, Esq. who lived to the extraordinary age of 110 Price of Stocks. years. He could read without spectacles, and retained his memory to the last. 23. Dr Dowoman of Exeter, at a very ad. vanced age. He was esteemed for his professional knowledge, and his learning in general. His correct and upright conduct, as an officer and a gentleman, endeared him to all his acquaintances, by whom, and his brother officers in particular, he is deeply and sincerely regretted. 25.
