CHAP. 1399.-An Act Authorizing the payment of part of the pension of Ira Steward to Adell Augusta Steward.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United Adell Augusta Stew- States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Payment of part of Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to cause to be husband's pension to. paid to Adell Augusta Steward, the former wife of Ira Steward, late of Company D, Thirteenth Regiment New York Volunteer Heavy Artillery, upon her properly executed voucher and out of the pension due or to become due from and after the passage of this Act to said Ira Steward, the sum of twelve dollars per month during the period of said Steward's imprisonment: Provided, That said Adell Augusta Steward shall not remarry during the imprisonment of said Ira Steward. Approved, July 1, 1902.

CHAP. 1400.-An Act Granting an increase of pension to Harman Scramlin. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United Harman Scramlin. States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Harman Scramlin, late of Company D, Forty-second Regiment Illinois Volunteer Infantry, and pay him a pension at the rate of twenty-four dollars per month in lieu of that he is now receiving.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Jason E. Freeman, late of Company C, Sixth Regiment Vermont Volunteer Infantry, and pay him a pension at the rate of thirty dollars per month in lieu of that he is now receiving. Approved, July 1, 1902.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the penson laws, the name of Silas Stotts, late of Company H, Sixty-second Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry, and pay him a pension at the rate of thirty dollars per month in lieu of that he is now receiving, such pension to be paid to his duly constituted guardian.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the

pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of John W. Thomas, late of Company D, Seventh Regiment United States Infantry, and pay him a pension at the rate of sixteen dollars per month.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of John H. Lauchly, late second lieutenant, Company H, One hundred and tenth Regiment United States Colored Volunteer Infantry, and pay him a pension at the rate of sixteen dollars per month in lieu of that he is now receiving.

CHAP. 1405.—An Act Granting an increase of pension to Caroline A. Hammond. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Caroline A. Hammond, widow of William P. Hammond, late of Captain Goodwyn's company of Alabama Volunteers, Creek Indian war, and pay her a pension at the rate of twelve dollars per month in lieu of that she is now receiving, the same to be paid to her under the rules of the Pension Bureau as to mode and times of payment, without any deduction or rebate on account of any former erroneous payments of pension. Approved, July 1, 1902.

Johnson, late of Company E, Thirteenth Regiment United States Infantry, war with Mexico, and pay him a pension at the rate of twelve dollars per month in lieu of that he is now receiving.

Phelps, widow of Ithamar D. Phelps, late captain Company K, Seventy-third Regiment Indiana Volunteer Infantry, and pay her a pension at the rate of twenty dollars per month in lieu of that she is now receiving.
