CHAP. 1422.-An Act Granting an increase of pension to Anne M. Luman.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Anne M. Luman, widow of Theodore Luman, late first lieutenant and adjutant, Second Regiment Potomac Home Brigade Maryland Volunteer Infantry, and pay her a pension at the rate of fifteen dollars per month in lieu of that she is now receiving. Approved, July 1, 1902.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Mary J. Moore, widow of James E. Moore, late of Troop B, Seventh Regiment United States Cavalry, and pay her a pension at the rate of twelve dollars per month. Approved, July 1, 1902.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Lizzie Dunlap, helpless and dependent daughter of James W. Dunlap, late of Company B, Two hundred and fourteenth Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, and pay her a pension at the rate of twelve dollars per month.

States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Alexander Murdock, late of Company B, First Regiment West Virginia Volunteer Cavalry, and pay him a pension at the rate of seventeen dollars per month in lieu of that he is now receiving. States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Nancy J. McArthur, widow of James R. McArthur, late captain of Company G, Seventy-first Regiment Indiana Volunteer Infantry, and pay her a pension at the rate of twenty dollars per month in lieu of that she is now receiving.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of John Williamson, late of Company G, Seventh Regiment United States Infantry, war with Mexico, and pay him a pension at the rate of twelve dollars per month.

CHAP. 1430.-An Act Granting an increase of pension to Charles A. Scott. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United Pension increased. States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Charles A. Scott, late of Companies M and F, Eighteenth Regiment New York Volunteer Cavalry, and pay him a pension at the rate of twenty dollars per month in lieu of that he is now receiving.

CHAP. 1431.-An Act For the relief of Anna Eliza Isabella Von Hemert.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Commissioners of the District of Columbia be, and they are hereby, authorized and directed to pay to Anna Eliza Isabella Von Hemert the sum of five thousand one hundred and sixty-seven dollars and five cents, in refundment of the money inadvertently paid by her for the discharge of the special assessment against the Walton W. Evans tract of land, represented by lien certificates numbered eight and thirty-eight of the series issued for the cost of improvements upon the street connecting Columbia road with Connecticut avenue extended and thence along said avenue to the District line, which certificates have been declared by the supreme court of the District of Columbia to have been illegally issued; and for that purpose there is hereby appropriated the aforesaid sum of money, one-half of which to be paid from the revenues of the District of Columbia and one-half from any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated. Approved, July 1, 1902.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That I. I. Barber, who is I. I. Barber. the owner of military bounty land warrant forty-five thousand four in Mississippi authorhundred and sixty-seven, issued the twentieth day of March, eighteen hundred and fifty-two, for forty acres of land, and military bounty land warrant sixty-two thousand one hundred and four, issued the thirteenth day of April, eighteen hundred and fifty-seven, for one hundred and sixty acres of land, is authorized to select two hundred acres of unreserved public lands of the United States in the State of Mississippi, in one body, or in subdivisions of not less than forty acres each, and upon such selection and the delivery of said land warrants to the Secretary of the Interior, duly certified and assigned to the bearer, it shall be the duty of the Secretary of the Interior to issue patent, or patents, as the case may be, to said I. I. Barber for such land or lands.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury of the United States be, and he is hereby, empowered and Refund of revenue directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of one hundred and fifty-six dollars and sixtyfour cents to said Sol Bear and Company, of Wilmington, North Carolina, upon said Sol Bear and Company first surrendering to the Commissioner of Internal Revenue the original stamps issued for said sum of money.

McClain in payment for adhesive revenue stamps issued to him in the months of June and July, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, by the Commissioner of Internal Revenue, and not received, sold, or accounted for by him. Sapp, late collector of internal revenue for the fifth district of Kentucky, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of two hundred dollars, to reimburse him for special-tax stamps for "worms manufactured," charged to him, which were never received by him.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of War be, Charles H. Hawley. and he is hereby, authorized to review and to revoke the order dismissing Charles H. Hawley from the service as a second lieutenant of the Sixteenth Regiment of Connecticut Volunteer Infantry, and to issue a certificate of honorable discharge for him, to date from the twentyfifth day of January, eighteen hundred and sixty-three, and that said Hawley shall thereafter be held and considered to have been honorably discharged from the military service of the United States on said date: Provided, That no pay, bounty, or other emoluments shall become due or payable by virtue of the passage of this Act.
