Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United [Private, No. 161.] States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Grace M. Read, widow of Frank D. Read, late lieutenant, United States Navy, and pay her a pension at the rate of twenty-five dollars per month in lieu of that she is now receiving. Approved, January 13, 1903.

CHAP. 191.-An Act Granting an increase of pension to William S. Barker.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of William S. Barker, late captain Companies E and K, Fourth Regiment New Hampshire Volunteer Infantry, and pay him a pension at the rate of thirty dollars per month in lieu of that he is now receiving.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United [Private, No. 163.] States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to credit the accounts of John A. Mason, collector of internal revenue for the second collection district of New York, with the sum of four hundred and thirty thousand two hundred and forty-nine dollars and eighty-three and one-third cents, being the value of internal-revenue stamps destroyed by fire at the office of said collector, number one hundred and fourteen Nassau street, New York, New York, on the night of February eleventh, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight. Approved, January 19, 1903.

laws, the name of Dorcas McArdle, widow of Barney McArdle, late of Captain Mahone's company, First Regiment Georgia Volunteers, war with Mexico, and pay her a pension at the rate of eight dollars per month.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Benjamin S. Bogardus, late of Company H, One hundred and seventieth Regiment Ohio National Guard Volunteer Infantry, and pay him a pension at the rate of twenty dollars per month in lieu of that he is now receiving.

Rickards, widow of William Rickards, junior, late colonel Twenty-ninth Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, and pay her a pension at the rate of thirty dollars per month in lieu of that she is now receiving.

CHAP. 212.-An Act Granting an increase of pension to Theresia Ziegenfuss. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United Theresia Ziegenfuss. States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Theresia Ziegenfuss, widow of Christopher Ziegenfuss, late of Company F, Twelfth Regiment Illinois Volunteer Infantry, and pay her a pension at the rate of twenty dollars per month in lieu of that she is now receiving: Provided, however, That in the case of the death of the helpless child, Anna Maria Ziegenfuss, on whose account the pension of Theresia Ziegenfuss is increased, the pension of said Theresia Ziegenfuss shall continue only at the rate of eight dollars per month from and after the date of death of said helpless child.

Barrett, dependent mother of William H. Barrett, late of Company F, Sixteenth Regiment Vermont Volunteer Infantry, and pay her a pension at the rate of twelve dollars per month. Approved, January 22, 1903.

CHAP. 214.-An Act Granting an increase of pension to Lawson Williams.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Lawson Williams, late of Company B, Twentysecond Regiment Kentucky Volunteer Infantry, and pay him a pension at the rate of thirty dollars per month in lieu of that he is now receiving.
