CHAP. 720.-An Act Granting a pension to Sabina Lalley.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Sabina Lalley, dependent mother of Patrick Lalley, late of Company B, Seventeenth Regiment Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry, and pay her a pension at the rate of twelve dollars per month. Approved, February 19, 1903.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United Elizabeth C. Gates. States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Elizabeth C. Gates, widow of Jacob Gates, late of Company G, Twenty-ninth Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry, and pay her a pension at the rate of twelve dollars per month. Approved, February 19, 1903.

CHAP. 722.—An Act Granting an increase of pension to Ada S. Kaempfer.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Ada S. Kaempfer, widow of Samuel O. Kaempfer, late assistant surgeon, Two hundred and eighth Regiment Pennsylvania Pension to cease on Volunteer Infantry, and pay her a pension at the rate of eight dollars per month, such pension to cease upon proof that the officer is living. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United Ran- States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of William F. Randolph, late pilot, United States Navy, and pay him a pension at the rate of twelve dollars per month. Approved, February 19, 1903.

laws, the name of Martin Greeley, late of Company B, Ninth Regiment United States Infantry, and pay him a pension at the rate of eight dollars a month.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That letters patent of the United States granted to Valdemar Poulsen, numbered six hundred and sixty-one thousand six hundred and nineteen, dated November thirteenth, nineteen hundred, shall not be held invalid by reason of the lapse of more than seven months between the time of filing of his application for a patent in Denmark and the filing of his application for said United States patent; nor shall the lapse of said period of more than seven months debar him from the grant of a patent upon that portion of his invention which was divided out from his original application in this country under the rules of practice then prevailing in the Patent Office, but the patent which may be granted on said divisional application shall expire at the same time with the said letters patent numbered six hundred and sixty-one thousand six hundred and nineteen: Provided, That no person shall be held liable for any infringement of the patents herein referred to which may have prior infringement. occurred prior to the passage of this Act. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the sum of eighty-three Charles W. Carr. dollars and seventy-one cents be allowed to Charles W. Carr, former postmaster at Englewood, Illinois, being the amount deposited by him to cover a deficiency arising in his office in the year eighteen hundred and ninety-four, which deposit was made to cover a loss caused by the payment by a clerk of two forged money orders, numbered eleven. hundred and sixty-six and fifteen hundred and forty-three, issued at Lansing, Michigan, on April seventeenth and May sixth, eighteen hundred and ninety-four, respectively, without blame or fault on the part of said Charles W. Carr; and that a sum sufficient to pay the allowance now made is hereby appropriated out of any money in the Treasury of the United States not otherwise appropriated.

States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Margaret Brennan, widow of Robert Brennan, late of Captain Quinlan's Engineer Company, Sixty-ninth Regiment New York State Militia Volunteer Infantry, and pay her a pension at the rate of eight dollars per month.
