By the Trident, Leoftoffe, and Hind: Ardenceur, of 14 carriage-guns and 84 men; the Difficile, of 8 carriage-guns and 48 men; and the Prince, with naval ftores, from Havre for Louisburg; all carried into Plymouth.

By the Grampus floop, Capt. Allen: A French privateer of 6 guns and 40 men, with a ranfomer on board for 280 1. carried into Shields; and the Duc d'Aumont, a privateer of Dunkirk, Lebert, of 12 fix-pounders, 4 four pounders, 6 fwivels, and 100 men, taken off Speymouth, May 28. after an engagement of near an hour, in which the privateer had 4 men killed and io wounded, and the Grampus 4 wounded, carried into Kirkwall in Orkney. This is the privateer that took and ranfomed fo many prizes laft month, off the frith of Forth, and on the north coaft of England: See the top of the preceding column.

By the Orford, Capt. Spray, one of Adm. Holburne's fquadron: A French privateer of 52 guns and 600 men. 'Tis faid the prisoners were fent to Kinfale, and that the privateer had received fo little damage, that the Admiral took her B first Y the Somerfet, Capt. Geary, and the Ro- along with him, when he failed from Corke, and

tuns, with pork, flour, and mufkets; and the Superb, of 750 tuns, with provifions, bale-goods, and feveral cafes of fmall arms; both bound from Bourdeaux for Quebeck. They had on board 242 officers and foldiers of the royal regiment of foreign voluntiers, 149 failors and pallengers, 740 barrels powder, 520 mufkets and bayonets, &c. for the troops in Canada. They were taken April 30. in lat 46. 59. N. and long. 5. 8. W. from the Lizard, and carried into Kinfale.

By the Rocheiter, Capt. Duff: The Poftilion, a privateer of St Jean de Luz, of 70 men, taken May 3. The privatcer was difabled fo much by fawing her gunnels and beams while Capt. Duff chafed her, that he judged it neceflary, after taking out the prifoners, to burn her.

Rawling: The Invincible, a privateer of St Maloes, of 24 nine-pounders and 286 men, taken May 2. in lat. and 120 miles west of Scilly, after an engagement of an hour and a half, in which the privateer had between 40 and 50 killed and wounded, and the Unicorn had the captain, boatswain, armourer, and a marine killed, and 5 men wounded, carried into Crookhaven; and the Comteffe de Noailles, a fnow privateer of Bourdeaux, of 14 fix and four pounders and 143 men, taken May 10. in lat. 50. 20.N. and 9 deg. W. longitude from London, carried into Kinfale. The Invincible had on board the captain, lieutenant, furgeon, and 45 private men of a Guernsey privateer, which the had taken April 28. in company with the Comteffe de Noailles, who had taken on board the reft. The Unicorn arrived with both her prizes at Plymouth, on the 17th.

By the Dolphin, Capt. Marlow: The Marquife du Barail, a privateer of Dunkirk, of 150 tuns, 2 fix and 10 four pounders, and 87 men, taken May 18. off Buchannels, after an engagement of three quarters of an hour, in which the privateer had one man killed and two wounded, and the Dolphin two wounded, one of whom died afterwards; brought into Leith road. There were three ranfomers on board, viz. one for the John and Ely of Harwich, Maffal, for 681.; one for the William and Anne of Dundee, Kidd, from Borrowftounnefs for Bamff, for 110l. and the third for the United Janets of Leith, from Copenhagen for Leith, for 5791 in all 7571.

By the St Anne armed fhip, Capt. Hay: La Danglemont, a privateer of Calais, of two threepounders, two fwivels, and 24 men, of whom 18 officers, carried into Leith.

By the Tartar, Capt. Lockhart: The Penelope, a privateer of Morlaix, of 16 fix-pounders, 2 two-pounders, and 180 men, carried into Plymouth.

By the Weafle floop: A French privateer of 16 guns, taken off Cromer.

By two cutters fent from Dover by Adm. Smith, under the command of Mr Barkley, a midshipman, the one of 8 two pounders, 6 swivel, and 16 men, the other of 16 fwivels and 16 men: A privateer of Dunkirk, of 10 four-pounders, 8 fwivels, and 75 men, run afhore about two miles from Oftend, and dafhed to pieces.
