MORNINGTON. S. M.

Arr. by L. MASON.

Hail to the Sabbath day! The day divinely given, When men to God their homage pay, And earth draws near to heaven.

With joy we lift our eyes To those bright realms above, That glorious temple in the skies, Where dwells eternal Love.

40
WITH joy we lift our eyes

Hymn of praise.

To those bright realms above, That glorious temple in the skies, Where dwells eternal Love.

2 Before thy throne we bow,
O thou almighty King;
Here we present the solemn vow,
And hymns of praise we sing.
3 While in thy house we kneel,
With trust and holy fear,
Thy mercy and thy truth reveal,
And lend a gracious ear.

4 Lord, teach our hearts to pray,
And tune our lips to sing;
Nor from thy presence cast away
The sacrifice we bring.

Thomas Jervis.

Now LET our voices join
To raise a sacred song;
Ye pilgrims! in Jehovah's ways,
With music pass along.

2 See-flowers of paradise,
In rich profusion, spring;
The sun of glory gilds the path,
And dear companions sing.

3 See-Salem's golden spires,
In beauteous prospect, rise;

And brighter crowns than mortals wear, Which sparkle through the skies.

4 All honor to his name,

Who marks the shining way,

To him who leads the pilgrims on

To realms of endless day.

Philip Doddridge.

Welcome, sweet day of rest, That saw the Lord arise! Welcome to this re-viv-ing breast, And these rejoic-ing eyes!

TO THY pastures fair and large,
Heavenly Shepherd, lead thy charge,
And my couch, with tenderest care,
'Mid the springing grass prepare.
2 When I faint with summer's heat,
Thou shalt guide my weary feet
To the streams that, still and slow,
Through the verdant meadows flow.
3 Safe the dreary vale I tread,
By the shades of death o'erspread,
With thy rod and staff supplied,
This my guard-and that my guide.

4 Constant to my latest end,
Thou my footsteps shalt attend;
And shalt bid thy hallowed dome
Yield me an eternal home.

James Merrick.
