Where the volume and maps and the different variations of the latter are discussed in great length by Mr. Harrisse, the above map is ce that he believes rightly belongs to the work, and is one of the earliest in which the word America is to be found. "The map, one of the most curious and ingenious productions of the early cartography, is alone worth more than any copy of the other edition of Grynaeus, and is unusually interesting."-QUARITCH.

It is not generally known that this volume is the second earliest work relating to Canada; Cartier's Narrative, 1545. being the first. Harrisse fails to mention this work at all in his Bibliographie de la Nouvelle, France, but gives second place to the Voyage of Alfonce, 1559. There several of the woodcuts which relate to Canada, one of which depicts the Indian on snow shoes. Ives copy of the Paris edition sold for $130.
