Page 383, line 16. The Lord Grantham alluded to was an old Dutchman, named Henry de Nassau, who was created Earl of Grantham in 1698. He was for a long time Chamberlain, and a kind of Polonius to Queen Caroline. He died in 1754.

Page 425, line 16, for former, read latter.

Pages 480-481. Of the three letters dated October 10, the first is misplaced: it should have been the last.
