Joseph Bickersteth Mayor (1828-1916) was a dedicated scholar and popular professor. He earned the M.A. from Cambridge University and the Litt.D. from Dublin University. He was a professor at King's College, London as well as an honorary fellow of St. John's College in Cambridge.
