O perfect Love, all human thoughts transcending,
O praise the Lord our God,
O quickly come, dread Judge of all,
sacred Head, now wounded, .
O saints of old ! not yours alone,
O shadow in a sultry land,
O shining city of our God,
O Sin of sins! from souls of light,
O sometimes gleams upon our sight, :
O Son of God, our Captain of salvation,
O Son of Man ! Thy name by choice,
O Source divine, and life of all,
O suffering Friend of human kind !
O Thou from whom all goodness flows,
O Thou great Friend to all the sons of men,
O Thou, in all Thy might so far,
O Thoụ in lonely vigil led,
O Thou not made with hands,
O Thou, the great Unknown, Unseen,
O Thou, the primal Fount of life and peace,
O Thou to whom, in ancient time,
O Thou to whom our voices rise,
O Thou true life of all that live,
O Thou unknown, Almighty cause,
O Thou who art of all that is,
O Thou, who as our knowledge grows,
O Thou, who deignest from above,
O Thou who dry'st the mourner's tear,
O Thou who hast at Thy command, .
O Thou who hast Thy servants taught,
O Thou, whose liberal sun and rain, .
O Thou whose power o'er moving worlds presides,
O Thou with whom in sweet content,
O timely happy, timely wise,
O when did lips such grace declare?.
O when shall we behold,
O where shall rest be found,
O wondrous Fatherhood of God !
O Word divine, like healing balms,
O worship the King, all-glorious above,
O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness !
O yet we trust that somehow good,
O’er the dark wave of Galilee,
Of all the precious gifts, O Lord,
Oft, as we run the weary way,
Oh for a closer walk with God,
Oh for a heart from self set free,
Oh, still in accents sweet and strong,
Oh that Thou wouldst the heavens rend,
Oh, the bitter shame and sorrow,
Once more the liberal year laughs out,
One gift, my God, I seek,
One holy Church of God appears,
One Lord there is, all lords above,
One thing I of the Lord desire,.
One thought I have, my ample creed,
On eyes that watch through sorrow's night,
On Jordan's bank the Baptist's cry,
On our way rejoicing,
On this, the holiest and best,
Onward, onward, through the region,
Open, Lord, my inward ear,
Oppressed with sin and woe,
Our blest Redeemer, ere He breathed,
Our day of praise is done,
Our Father, God ! not face to face,
Our Father, hear our longing prayer,
Our Father Thou ! in joyful trust,
Our Father! while our hearts unlearn,
Our God is one! this truth sublime,
Our God! our God! Thou shinest here,
Our God! we thank Thee, who hast made,
Our portion is not here, O Lord,
Out of the dark the circling sphere,
Out of the deep I call,
Out of the depths I cry to Thee,
Part in peace ! is day before us ?
Past are the Cross, the scourge, the thorn,
Peace ! perfect Peace ! the gift of God within,
Planted in Christ, the living vine, .
Pour, blessed Gospel, glorious news for man,
Pour forth the oil, -pour boldly forth,
Pour out Thy Spirit from on high,
Praise Him world without beginning,
Praise, my soul, the King of heaven,.
Praise, O praise, our God and King !
Prạise the Lord, ye heavens adore him,
Praise to God, and thanksgiving,
Praise to the Holiest in the height,
Pray, children ! pray,
Prune thou thy words, thy thoughts control,
Pure in heart and free of sin,
Quiet from God! How blessed 'tis to keep,
Receive Messiah gladly,
Rejoice! the Lord is King,
Rejoice to-day with one accord,
Rejoice, ye pure in heart, .
Remember Me, the Saviour said,
Rest for the weary hands is good,
Restore, O Father, to our times restore,
Ride on ! ride on in majesty !
Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky,
Rock of Ages ! cleft for me,
Rock of Ages ! shelter me !
Rocked in the cradle of the deep,
Safe across the waters,
Saviour ! again to Thy dear name we raise,
Saviour and Master,
Saviour, breathe an evening blessing,
Send down Thy truth, O God !
Seven times He spake, seven words of love,
Shepherd of Israel, hear my prayer,
Shine forth, Eternal Source of Light,
Show me myself, O holy Lord, .
Show pity, Lord,
Sign of a glorious life afar,
Silent, like men in solemn haste,
Since without Thee we do no good,
Sing Alleluia forth in duteous praise,
Sing forth His high eternal name,
Sing of the martyr host,
Sing to the Lord a joyful song, .
Sing we of the Golden City,
Sing we the song of those who stand,
Sing with our might and uplift our glad voices,
Slowly, by Thy hand unfurled, .
Slowly, slowly darkening,.
So here hath been dawning,
Softly the silent night,
Soldier of the Cross obey,.
Son of the living God! oh, call us,
Sovereign and transforming grace,
Speak, for Thy servant heareth,
Speak, Lord, unto Thy people speak,
Speak to our hearts, O Father, say,
Speak to us Lord, Thyself reveal,
Spirit divine! attend our prayer,
Spirit of Faith! be Thou my guide,
Spirit of God, descend upon my heart,
Spirit of Grace, Thou Light of Life, .
Spirit of mercy, truth, and love,
Spirit of power, and truth, and love !
Spirit of Wisdom ! guide Thine own,
Sport of the changeful multitude,
Stand up and bless the Lord,
Stand up before your God,
Standing forth on life's rough way,
Star of Morning, brightly shining,
Stay, Master, stay upon this heavenly hill,
Still, still with Thee, when purple morning breaketh,
Still will we trust, though earth seem dark and dreary,
Still with Thee, O my God,
Strangers and pilgrims here below,
Strong Son of God, immortal Love,
Summer suns are glowing over land and sea,
Sun of our souls, Thou Saviour dear,
Sweet evening hour, sweet evening hour !
Sweet is the Spirit's strain,
Sweet was the hour, O Lord, to Thee,
Sweetly the holy hymn,
O my Father, take me !
Take my life, and let it be,
Take, O Lord, my faithless heart,
Take Thine own way with me, good Lord,
Teach me, my God and King,
Teach me, O Lord, Thy holy way,
Teach me to live !. 'Tis easier far to die,
Teach us to pray !
The changing centuries, O God,
The crown, the palm of saints in Paradise,
The dawn of God's dear Sabbath,
The day is done, the sacred day of thought and toil is
The day is past and over,
The day of prayer is ending,
The Day of Resurrection !
The day Thou gavest, Lord, is ended,
The days that were, the days that are,
The faithful men of every land,
The glory of the Spring how sweet,
The God of love my Shepherd is,
The head that once was crowned with thorns,
The King of love my Shepherd is,
The livelong night we've toiled in vain,
The Lord God bless and keep thee,
The Lord is come ! on Syrian soil,
The Lord is in His Holy Place,
The Lord is King ! lift up thy voice,
The Lord is rich and merciful,
The Lord's my Shepherd, I'll not want,
The Lord my pasture shall prepare,
The Lord will come and not be slow,
The morning walks upon the earth,
The mourners come at break of day,,
The night is come, wherein at last we rest,
The old year's long campaign is o'er,
The one whole truth I seek,
The past is dark with sin and shame,
The radiant morn hath passed away, .
The Saviour-what a noble flame,
The Shepherd yearned not for one fold,
The Son of God gave thanks,
The Son of God goes forth to war,
The spacious firmament on high,
The spring-tide hour brings leaf and flower,
The sun is gone, the long clouds break,
The sun is sinking fast,
The thought of God, the thought of Thee,
The toil of brain, or heart, or hand,
The wondrous voice within the mind,
The year is gone, beyond recall,
The year is swiftly waning,
There is a Book who runs may read, .
There's a strife we all must wage,
There's a wideness in God's mercy,
