Seite 23 - The coefficient of storage of an aquifer is defined as the volume of water it releases from or takes into storage per unit surface area of the aquifer per unit change in the component of head normal to that surface. This coefficient is a dimensionless number. The coefficient of storage of a nonartesian aquifer is nearly identical with the specific yield of the aquifer.
Seite 5 - Lowercase letters following the section number locate the well within the section. The first letter denotes the quarter section, the second the quarter-quarter section, and the third the quarter-quarterquarter section. The letters are assigned within the section in a counterclockwise direction beginning with (a) in the northeast quarter of the section.
Seite 71 - D 1 129 as follows: 3.1.1 equivalent per million — a unit chemical equivalent weight of solute per million unit weights of solution. Concentration in equivalents per million is calculated by dividing concentration in parts per million by the chemical combining weight of the substance or ion. NOTE 1 — This unit also has been called "milliequivalents per litre" and "milligram equivalents per kilogram.
Seite 40 - ... wide extending the full saturated thickness of the aquifer under a hydraulic gradient of 1 foot per mile. The coefficient of storage...
Seite 42 - The Country is not mountaineous, nor yet low, but such pleasant plain hills, and fertile valleys, one prettily crossing another, and watered so conveniently with fresh brooks and streams, no less commodious than delightsome . . . Seite 71 - The dissolved chemical constituents are reported in parts per million. A part per million is a unit weight of a constituent in a million unit weights of water plus constituents.
Seite 3 - An Act to amend Sections 3262 and 3264 of the Revised Laws of Hawaii 1935, relating to the Board of Water Supply of the City and County of Honolulu.
Seite 46 - Records, logs, and water-level measurements of selected wells and test holes and chemical analyses of ground water in Fountain, Jimmy Camp, and Black Squirrel Valleys, El Paso County, Colorado: Colo.
Seite 77 - Hardness between 50 and 150 parts per million does not seriously interfere with the use of water for most purposes, but it does slightly increase the consumption of soap, and its removal by a softening process is profitable for laundries or other industries using large quantities of soap.
