And do me the justice to believe that, if I have sometimes infringed the laws of ceremonious nicety and formal etiquette, the trespass has been committed through an eager, and I trust an honest, desire (as far as my feeble powers could prevail) to rouse the listless, to convince the incredulous, and to caution all, by unmasking the foul designs of their unnatural countrymen. In doing this, and in the language which I have used, I may perhaps have broken down the pale of fastidious punctilio; as, when a Building is threatened by Fire, we scruple not to burst open the doors and warn its slumbering inhabitants of their danger.
