ON the recommendation of the Committee to whom was

referred the Address of the President, delivered at the session of 1881, the Committee of Publication was instructed to have hereafter conspicuously printed in all published documents and Transactions of this Institute, Dr. Dowling's definition of a regular physician, viz.:

"A regular physician, a graduate of a regularly chartered medical college. The term also applies to a person practising the healing art in accordance with the laws of the country in which he resides."

PREFACE.

The

THE Transactions of the Thirty-fourth Session of the American Institute of Homœopathy are herewith presented. same order has been observed in the arrangement of the Bureau reports, papers, discussions, consecutive paging, etc., that was adopted by the General Secretary last year.

The Complete Code of Medical Ethics, also, appears in this volume.

While the Secretary indulges the hope that the very able and practical papers, and interesting and instructive discussions have not been seriously marred by his revisions, he does not claim perfection for his work; but respectfully submits the result of his labors to the indulgent criticisms of his fellow members of the Institute.

PITTSBURGH, PA., October, 1881.

J. C. BURGHER,

General Secretary.
