No longer than thirty-five years ago it would have been considered an impossibility to supersede the cumbrous electrifying machines and unwieldy batteries, with their corrosive acids, by a PORTABLE VOLTAIC CHAIN, producing instantaneously, by means of a little vinegar, a powerful electric current, followed by a mild and continuous voltaic action. This difficult problem, however, was so successfully solved by PULVERMACHER'S Chain-Appliances and Batteries, that these at once obtained full recognition from scientists and the élite of the medical profession, both in England and abroad. Notwithstanding the success attained in this direction, there remained a further desideratum, which, in its prima facie aspect, appeared fully as difficult as the former achievement-viz., that of combining efficiency with such comfort and convenience in self-application as would satisfy the most delicate or fastidious patient. This desideratum has given birth to a series of successive improvements, which at length have culminated in PULVERMACHER's latest production, viz., Chain Belts and Bands, by which the perfection of comfort, combined with the utmost efficiency, is now a fait accompli. These highly-perfected appliances supply mild continuous Galvanic currents to the body in a warm and comfortable manner, and patients are now enabled to avail themselves of these desirable improvements. The newly-perfected appliances now universally adopted have upon one side of the positive and negative poles our trade-mark, with motto, "Electricity is Life," also, the fac-simile signature of the inventor.
