"The Tragedie of Julius Cæsar"* was first published in the Folio of 1623, where it occupies pages 109-130 in the division of "Tragedies." It was printed with remarkable accuracy, and no play of Shakespeare's presents fewer textual difficulties. The date at which the drama was written has been variously fixed by the critics. According to Malone, it "could not have appeared before 1607."
