Politics, Postmodernity, and Critical Legal Studies: The Legality of the Contingent

Costas Douzinas is Professor of Law at Birkbeck, University of London and Director of the Birkbeck Institute for the Humanities. In his many books and the talks he has given around the world, he has developed a position on human rights which seeks to retain the radical and emancipatory power of the term without however accepting the arid and self-interested arguments of the powerful (of both the scholarly and political variety).

Peter Goodrich is a Professor of Law and Director of the Program in Law and Humanities, Cardozo School of Law, New York. His previous books include Reading the Law (1986); Legal Discourse (1992); Oedipus Lex (1996); and more recently Laws of Love (2006); and, with Christian Delage, The Scene of the Mass Crime: History, Film and International Tribunals (2012). To this coruscating collection it can be added that Peter Goodrich is also co-author and co-producer of the award winning feature documentary Auf Wiedersehen: 'Til We Meet Again (Diskin Films, 2011).
