Because no descriptions of another man's experiences ever have the intimacy and validity of a personal account, in these pages you are invited to hear these people themselves. It is their own words you will read. The book is not encyclopedic in its range. It is an anthology, and like all anthologies, it is a selection based on one man's personal preferences. It is a selection set out in order and to the design that it is, in the hope that it will assist in clearing away much of the misunderstanding that exists concerning mysticism, and also, that it may be useful in developing sensitiveness and spiritual awareness.
