THE Contents of this volume will best explain them-
selves. The Addresses have been selected as memorials
of the pastoral and Episcopal life which they serve to
illustrate. The short biographical sketch which is
prefixed was necessary to connect and elucidate them.
If a faithful image is thus recalled and preserved of
one, whose memory is dear to many, and who in his
lifetime was often misapprehended, the object of the
ensuing pages will have been sufficiently attained.
