[NOTE. The present institution began its existence at Bloomington, as the INDIANA SEMINARY, in 1820, was made a college by act of Legislature in 1828, and a University in name in 1838. The annual attendance prior to 1850 ranged from thirty-eight in 1841 to one hundred and fifteen in 1846. From 1850 to 1884 the smallest annual attendance in the University was forty-eight, in 1853; the largest, one hundred and ninety, 1881. From 1885 to 1892 the attendance was as follows: 1885, one hundred and fiftysix; 1886, two hundred and two; 1887, two hundred and sixty-three; 1888, two hundred and seventy-five; 1889, three hundred; 1890, three hundred and twenty-one; 1891, three hundred and ninety-four. This remarkable growth has continued to the present, and the following table shows the attendance by terms and totals for the years since 1891:]
