His Book (the Tranflation of which I first undertook at the perfwafion of fome worthy Perfons, and with the permiffion of the Author,) having been fome Tears in much Credit and Repute in its own Country, appears now in an English Drefs, and defires your Approbation and 11. Countenance to favour its first coming Abroad.

The Author is the Reverend Mr. Abbadie, a Perfon very eminent both for his Learning and Piety; which Qualifications are fufficient to recommend him to the World; and the near reSemblance of his Character to yours in both these refpects must needs procure him your particular esteem.

But the Book, Sir, requires your Patronage, not fo much for the Author's Sake, as its own: Its Subject is Religion; its chief Bufinefs and Defign to vindicate the Best of Religions, the Christian, against the greatest Contradictions to it, Atheism, Deism, and Judaism.
