AN OUTLINE OF LOGIC

FOR THE

Use of Teachers and Students

"Mr. Garden's unpretending but valuable little book is both explanatory and suggestive to one who has turned his attention to the subject and is interested in the inquiries to which it leads. We are grateful to Mr. Garden for his very suggestive and pleasantly written book."-Guardian.

"We have had a good many Manuals of Logic of late, but we are bound to say that the present adds a new variety to the list. It is not, as we think, very suitable for teaching, being more than a skeleton and less than a treatise; but it is a suggestive book. Here is its value; and it is, as we can testify from perusal, very interesting. The author has the faculty of seeing the remoter consequences of logical truths. (Compare, e. g., Appendix A, Nominalism and Realism.) He starts a good many interesting questions. The final chapter, that on Applied Logic,' dealing with the connection between theology and logic, seems to us especially weighty and important, and worthy of careful consideration."-Literary Churchman.

"Mr. Garden has published a brief and convenient work on Logic, attractive (if any work but Mr. Mill's can be) both in form and mode of treatment."-Westminster Review.

"This will be a valuable little book for logic-students. We are glad to find that Mr. Garden disclaims those high pretensions for what is called the Art of Logic, which are assumed by many of its votaries and teachers useful for definition and classification."-Church Times.
