I MAKE no apology for adding, to the already numerous Hymn Books amongst us, another short compilation. The Hymns for the Christian Church and Home are so excellent, and so hallowed in the associations of our worship, that it would be an offence against our best life to try to supersede them; at the same time, there haye been continually growing up spiritual songs of praise and prayer-none the worse for being new-some of which, together with here and there an elder strain recovered, it seemed desirable to include in our Repertory. A number of the Psalms marked for Chanting, the Beatitudes, and other occasional services, are also printed in this little volume, which, I earnestly hope, may serve to enrich the hours we spend together in the Holy

Presence.

BLESS

LESSED is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, || nor sitteth in the | seat | of the | scornful.

But his delight is in the law | of the | LORD; || and in his law doth he | meditate | day and night.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of | water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his | season.

but
