MY heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.

ROM. X. I.

HAST thou, my Master, aught for me to do
To honor thee to-day?

Hast thou a word of love to some poor soul
That I may say?

For see this world that thou hast made so fair,
Within its heart is sad?

Thousands are lonely, thousands sigh and weep:
But few are glad.

MRS. E. PRENTISS.

ALMIGHTY GOD, we beseech thee to hear our

prayers for all such as sin against thee or neglect to serve thee, that thou wouldst bestow upon them true contrition, and an earnest desire to devote themselves to thy holy service, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

THIS is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners: of whom I am chief.

I TIM. i. 15.

NOT thine Omniscience, but thy grace,
Leads me to seek thee day and night :
When I should shrink from human face
Were this frail heart in human sight.
Hope that thy love will hide my shame
With pardon tender, full, and sweet,
Bestowed when asked in Jesus' name : -
This bows me, Father, at thy feet!

HARRIET MCEWEN KIMBALL.

THOU that takest away the sins of the world, receive our prayer! Amen.

THOUGH I walk in the midst of trouble, thou

wilt revive me.

PSALM CXXXviii. 7.

WHATE'ER my God ordains is right:
My Light, my Life is he!

Who cannot will me aught but good;
I trust him utterly,

For well I know

In joy or woe,

We soon shall see as sunlight clear,
How faithful was our Guardian here.

S. RODIGAST.

UNTO every Christian soul, O Lord, that is afflicted, or plunged into distress, grant thou mercy, grant relief, grant refreshment, we beseech thee, for Christ's sake. Amen.

WHATSOEVER ye do, in word or deed, do all in the Name of the Lord Jesus.

COL. iii. 17.

THE deeds we do, the words we say,
Into still air they seem to fleet:

We count them ever past.

But they shall last :

In the dread judgment, they

And we shall meet.

Keble.

DIRECT us, O Lord, in all our doings, with thy most gracious favor, and further us with thy continual help; that in all our works begun, continued, and ended in thee, we may glorify thy holy Name, and finally, by thy mercy, obtain everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

LIGHT is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.

PSALM XCVii. II.

LET thy good Spirit by the word
Work mightily in us, O Lord:
Our souls and bodies filling!
Oh let the Sun of grace shine bright,
That there may be abundant light
In us, and in our dwelling :
On our way, night and day,
Cheerful, happy, and confiding,
Patiently in thee abiding.

LYRA DOMESTICA.

SHINE into our hearts, O loving Master, by the pure light of the knowledge of thyself, that we may ever be devoted unto thee, for thine own Name's sake. Amen.
