THE Master is come, and calleth for thee.

JOHN xi. 28.

MASTER! say on: thy words are sweet;
I hush my heart to hear;

I wait in silence for thy voice

That is so true and clear:

It quiets all unrestful thought,

It stills the throbbing brain,

It soothes like hymn from mother-lips
The weary ache of pain.

H. BOWMAN.

SPEAK to our hearts, O Christ, as thou didst to thy

followers of old. O loving and crucified Christ, redeem us from our sins, that we may follow thee all our lives long, for thy blessed Name's sake.

Amen.

BLESSED are the pure in heart: for they shall

see God.

BLESSED are the pure in heart,
For they shall see our God:
The secret of the Lord is theirs,
Their soul is Christ's abode.

Still to the lowly soul

He doth himself impart,

MATT. V. 8.

And for his cradle and his throne

Chooseth the pure in heart.

Keble.

MAKE us, O Lord, to flourish like pure lilies in the

courts of thine house, and to show forth to the faithful the fragrance of good works, and the example of a godly life, through thy mercy, O Christ Jesus. Amen.

HE that spared not his own him up for us all, how shall also freely give us all things?

Son, but delivered he not with him ROM. viii. 32.

OH, shame beyond the bitterest thought
That evil spirit ever framed,

That sinners know what Jesus wrought,
Yet feel their haughty hearts untamed:

That souls in refuge, holding by the cross,

Should wince and fret at this world's little loss.

Keble.

MAY the hope which thou hast given us, O Lord, be

our consolation in our low estate, as it will fill us with glory in the day of our rejoicing, through the merits of thine only Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

FOR ye have need of patience, that after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. НЕВ. Х. 36.

THE highest hopes we cherish here,
How fast they tire and faint!
How many a spot defiles the robe
That wraps an earthly saint!
Oh, for a heart that never sins!
Oh, for a soul washed white !
Oh, for a voice to praise our king,
Nor weary, day or night!

CECIL FRANCES ALEXANder.

STIR up, we beseech thee, O Lord, the wills of thy faithful people; that they, plenteously bringing forth the fruit of good works, may by thee be plenteously rewarded, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

I

WILL bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

PSALM XXXxiv. I.

THROUGH the love of God, our Saviour,

All will be well :

Free and changeless is his favor, —

All, all is well!

Precious is the blood that healed us,
Perfect is the grace that sealed us,

Strong the hand stretched forth to shield us,
All must be well!

MARY BOWLY.

LORD, we beseech thee, give us that due sense of all thy mercies, that our hearts may be unfeignedly thankful, and that we may show forth thy praise, not only with our lips but in our lives; by giving up ourselves to thy service, and by walking before thee in holiness and righteousness all our days, through Jesus Christ our Lord; to whom with thee and the Holy Ghost, be all honor and glory, world without end. Amen.
