AND Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of

life he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. JOHN vi. 35.

DAILY, O Lord, our prayers be said,
As thou hast taught, for daily bread :
But not alone our bodies feed:
Supply our fainting spirits' need!
O Bread of Life! from day to day,
Be thou their comfort, food, and stay!

JOSEPH ANSTICE.

GOD, the Bread of Life, look upon us; be thou the guardian of our bodies; be thou the Saviour of our

souls; we ask it for Christ's sake. Amen.

STAND fast, therefore, in the liberty wherewith

Christ hath made us free.

GAL. V. I.

I BLESS thy wise and wondrous love,
Which binds us to be free;

Which makes us leave our earthly snares,
That we may come to thee!
I come, I wait, I hear, I pray !
Thy footsteps, Lord, I trace!
I sing, to think this is the way
Unto my Saviour's face.

JOHN MASON.

GRANT us, Lord, not to mind earthly things, but to love things heavenly, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

EYE hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

I COR. ii. 9.

THEY whom we loved and lost so long ago,
Dwell in those cities, far from mortal woe,
Haunt those fresh woodlands, whence
Sweet carollings soar,

Eternal peace have they;

God wipes their tears away:

They drink that river of life which flows for
Evermore.

DUBLIN UNIVERSITY MAGAZINE.

MAKE us, O loving Lord, partakers of thy paradisejoy, and grant us there to be numbered with thy

saints in glory everlasting, for Christ's sake. Amen.

FOR the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

PSALM lxxxiv. II.

If thou art my shield and my sun,
The night is no darkness to me,
And, fast as my minutes roll on,
They bring me but nearer to thee.

Thy smiles and thy comforts abound,
Thy grace, as the dew, doth descend;
And walls of salvation surround

The soul he delights to defend.

TOPLADY.

BE present, O Lord, to our prayers, and protect us by

:

day and night that in all successive changes of times we may ever be strengthened by thine unchangeableness, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

LET us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

HEB. iv. 16.

THE trials that those men do meet withal,
That are obedient to the heavenly call,
Are manifold, and suited to the flesh,

And come, and come, and come again afresh :
That now, or some time else, we by them may
Be taken, overcome, and cast away,

Oh let the pilgrims, let the pilgrims then,
Be vigilant, and quit themselves like men.

BUNYAN.

GOD, who knowest us to be set in the midst of so many and great dangers, that by reason of the frailty of our nature we cannot always stand upright; grant to us such strength and protection, as may support us in all dangers, and carry us through all temptations; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
