BEAR ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the

law of Christ.

GAL. vi. 2.

So others shall

Take patience, labor, to their heart and hand, From thy heart, and thy hand, and thy brave cheer, And God's grace fructify through thee to all. The least flower, with a brimming cup may stand, And share its dew-drop with another near.

MRS. E. B. BROWNING.

O LORD JESUS CHRIST, our sympathizing Sav

iour, draw thou near to all who in this transitory life are in any sorrow, need, sickness, or any other adversity, and so hallow all their crosses in this life, that thou may'st crown them hereafter where all tears are wiped away, for thine own Name's sake. Amen.

YOUR

life is hid with Christ in God.

COL. iii. 3.

THE tempter comes with guileful art,
To snare me in some thought of sin :
I breathe in prayer one Blessed Name
Jesus, "a place to hide me in."
O hidden "life with Christ in God,"
Let me thy blest abiding win!
The shadow of God's lovingness
Jesus a place to hide me in."

THAT it may please thee to strengthen such as do stand, and to comfort and help the weak-hearted; and to raise up those who fall; and finally to beat down Satan under our feet: we beseech thee to hear us, good Lord!

EVENING, and morning, and at noon-day, will I

pray.

PSALM lv. 17.

HE every moment waits to give,
Watch thou unwearied to receive.
Prayer is the Christian pilgrim's staff,
To walk with God all day :
When midnight veils our eyes,
Oh, it is sweet to say,

With thee to watch and pray!"

GOD, the life of the faithful, the bliss of the righteous, mercifully receive the prayers of thy suppliants, that the souls which thirst for thy promises, may evermore be filled from thine abundance, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THOU wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth ISAIAH XXVI. 3.

in thee.

My Saviour, why should I complain,
And why fear aught but sin?
Distractions are but outward things:
Thy peace dwells far within.
These surface-troubles come and go
Like rufflings of the sea:
The deeper depth is out of reach
To all, my God, but thee.

FABER.

LORD, give unto thy servants that peace which the world cannot give; that our hearts may be set to obey thy commandments, and also that by thee, we, being defended from the fear of our enemies, may pass our time in rest and quietness; through the merits of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

THAT was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

JOHN i. 9.

HOLY Jesus, every day
Keep us in the narrow way:
And, when earthly things are past,
Bring our ransomed souls at last
Where they need no star to guide,
Where no clouds thy glory hide.

W. C. Dix.

ALMIGHTY GOD, who hast made known the Incarnation of thy Son by the bright shining of a star, grant that the Star of thy righteousness may always shine in our hearts, and that, as our treasure, we may give ourselves, and all we possess to thy service, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
