YEA, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.

PSALM lvii. I.

I Do not ask that God shall always make

My pathway light:

I only pray that he will hold

Throughout the night :

my hand

I do not hope to have the thorns removed
That pierce my feet:

I only ask to find his blessed arms
My safe retreat.

GOD, who scourgest our faults with strokes of love, in order to cleanse us from our iniquities: grant us both to profit by thy chastening, and speedily to rejoice in thy consolation, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

A NAME which is above every name.

AUTHOR and Guardian of my life,
Sweet source of light divine,
And all harmonious names in one,
My Saviour thou art mine!

PHIL. ii. 9.

What thanks I owe thee, and what love,
A boundless, endless store,

Shall echo through the realms above
When time shall be no more!

WM. COWPER, 1779.

GOD, who hast made the most glorious Name of our Lord Jesus Christ thine only begotten Son, to be. supremely lovable to thy faithful servants, mercifully grant that all who venerate this name of Jesus on earth, may receive comfort in this life, and in the life to come never ending joy, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

SEEK the Lord, and his strength: seek his face

evermore.

PSALM CV. 4.

Он, make us apt to seek, and quick to find,
Thou God most kind!

Give us love, hope, and faith in thee to trust,
Thou God most just!

Remit all our offences we entreat,

Most good, most great!

Grant that our willing, though unworthy quest,
May, through thy grace, admit us 'mongst the blest.

THOMAS HEYWOOD.

GRANT, we beseech thee, merciful Lord, to thy faithful people pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all their sins, and serve thee with a quiet mind; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE Lord thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand DEUT. XV. 10.

unto.

FORTH in thy name, O Lord, I go,
My daily labor to pursue;
Thee, only thee, resolved to know,
In all I think, or speak, or do.

Give me to bear thy easy yoke,
And every moment watch and pray;

And still to things eternal look,
And hasten to thy glorious day.

CHARLES WESLEY.

LORD JESUS, in union with thy most perfect actions, I commend to thee my works of this day, to

be directed according to thy will. ́ Amen.

EVERY good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of

lights.

JAMES i. 17.

EACH tender gift

Our God doth give

Our hearts should lift

Nearer,

To thee in whom we "move and live,"
Making our Father dearer.

A. E. H.

ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, from whom cometh every good and perfect gift, send down upon thy servants the healthful spirit of thy grace, and pour upon them the continual dew of thy blessing, for the honor of our Advocate and Mediator Jesus Christ. Amen.
