FEAR none of those things which thou shalt

suffer.

REV. ii. 10.

I NE'ER took up the cross

But Christ my Saviour bore

The heaviest end, and all the weight
While leading on before.

JESUS! I thank thee that thou hast permitted me to suffer with thee; may it be my privilege to bear my cross, and may I glory in nothing else: by may the world be crucified unto me, and I unto the world; may I never shrink from suffering, but rather rejoice if I be counted worthy to suffer for thy Name's sake. Amen.

BLESSED are the merciful: for they shall ob

tain mercy.

O STREAM of love!

MATT. v. 7

If thou shouldst come upon a rock of hate,
Rippling around it softly move

And wait

Till, by the rains of grace from heaven fed
Thou shalt thy waves of mercy o'er it spread.

A. E. H.

MOST loving Jesus, pattern of charity, grant that the grace of charity and brotherly love may dwell in us, and all envy, harshness, and ill-will may die in us: and fill our hearts with such kindness, that by constantly rejoicing in the happiness and good success of others, and putting away all envious thoughts, we may follow thee, who art thyself the true and perfect love. Amen.

EXCEPT ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of MATT. xviii. 3.

heaven.

LAMB of God, I look to thee:
Thou shalt my example be :

Thou art gentle, nieek, and mild :
Thou wast once a little child.

Fain I would be as thou art :
Give me thy obedient heart!
Thou art pitiful and kind :
Let me have thy loving mind!

CHARLES WESLEY.

THAT it may please thee to give all thy people increase of grace to hear meekly thy Word, and to reIceive it with pure affection, and to bring forth the fruits of the Spirit, we beseech thee to hear us, good Lord. Amen.

BEHOLD the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word.

LUKE i. 38.

YEA, my spirit fain would sink
In thy heart and hands, my God,
Waiting till thou show the end
Of the ways that thou hast trod :
Stripped of self, how calm my rest
On my loving Father's breast!

WINKLER.

WE beseech thee, O Lord, pour thy grace into our

hearts; that as we have known the incarnation of thy Son Jesus Christ by the message of an angel, so by his cross and passion we may be brought unto the glory of his resurrection; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.

DEUT. Xxxiii. 27.

WHEN I am feeble as a child,
And flesh and heart give way,
Then on thy everlasting strength,
With passive trust I stay,

And the rough wind becomes a song
The darkness shines like day.

A. L. WARING.

LORD, strengthen me to bear my cross patiently, humbly, lovingly if I sink under it, look on me, and raise me up. Give what thou commandest, and command what thou willest, only make me wholly patient, for love of thee, O Jesus! Amen.
