WHEN we behold

God walking through our household fold,
And choosing there one of his own dear sheep,

How can our eyes forbear to weep?

THOU, O merciful Father, knowest our sufferings, our sorrows, our tears: look upon us and succor us, for of ourselves we could not bear thy chastisement. Make us to be conformed unto thy will, for the sake of Jesus our compassionate Saviour. Amen.

AS a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day. EZEK. xxxiv. 12.

SOULS of men, why will ye scatter
Like a crowd of frightened sheep?
Foolish hearts, why will ye wander
From a love so true and deep?
Was there ever kindest shepherd
Half so gentle, half so sweet,
As the Saviour, who would have us
Come and gather round his feet?

TURN thou us, O good Lord, and so shall we be turned. Spare thy people, good Lord, spare them, and let not thine heritage be brought to confusion, for the sake of thy Son, Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.
