THY shoes shall be iron and brass: and as thy days, so shall thy strength be.

DEUT. xxxiii. 25.

GOD may not smooth the path alway,
Or take the stones and thorns away:
But" iron and brass my shoes shall be,"
To tread right onward steadfastly:
So shall I walk, and never faint,
Upheld by cheerful love's constraint.

GRANT, we beseech thee, Almighty God, that pressing onwards in thy way with devout minds, we may escape the snares of the sins that beset us, and walk cheerfully in the way of thy commandments, for Jesus' ake. Amen.

FOR so he giveth his beloved sleep.

PSALM CXxvii. 2.

MAY

BLESSED is the turf, serenely blessed,
Where throbbing hearts may sink to rest;
Where life's long journey turns to sleep,
Nor ever pilgrim wakes to weep.

LEIGH HUNT.

our souls depart out of this world, in the name of God the Father Almighty, who created us; in the name of Jesus Christ, who suffered for us; in the name of the Holy Ghost who hath been poured into us; may our place in the day of death be peace, and our habitation in the heavenly Jerusalem! We ask it for Jesus' sake. Amen.

AND grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

EPH. iv. 30.

HOLY Spirit, given

For our guide to heaven,
Sent by love divine :
With thy peace consoling,
Every ill controlling,

On our darkness shine!

Faith and hope and love increasing,
Fill our hearts with joy unceasing.

WE beseech thee, O Lord, let the power of the Holy

Spirit be present with us, that it may both mercifully cleanse our hearts and protect us from all adversities, through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

BELOVED, if God so loved us, we ought also to

love one another.

I JOHN iv. 11.

GOD scatters love on every side:
Freely, among his children all:
And always hearts are lying open wide,
Wherein some grains may fall.

J. R. LOWELL.

GOD, who art the author of love, and the lover of pure peace and affection, give us grace so to walk through life, that we may ever be sowing the seed of divine truth in the hearts of our fellow-men, that they may be fruitful in all good works, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE beloved of the Lord shall dwell in safety DEUT. xxxiii. 12.

by him.

WITH mercy and with judgment
My web of life he wove,

And, aye, the dews of sorrow
Were lustred with his love:
I'll bless the hand that guided,

I'll bless the heart that planned
When throned where glory dwelleth,
In Immanuel's land.

MOST merciful Lord, most tender Father, do thou govern, protect, preserve, sanctify, guide, console thy servants, that they may ever be kept in perfect peace, for the sake of Jesus Christ thy Son. Amen.
