COMMIT thy ways unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.

PROV. xvi. 3.

LIKE a blind spinner in the sun,
I tread my days;

I know that all the threads will run
Appointed ways;

I know each day will bring its task,
And, being blind, no more I ask.

H. H.

LORD, to whom shall I go, but unto thee? I ask from thy gracious lips ever a word of life to heal my soul when it is restless and afraid. Led by thy hand I am safe, in time and for eternity. Lord, I commit myself, my heart, and all to which it clings, unto thy true, thy loving, thy Almighty hand, for Jesus' sake.

Amen.

HE hath made every thing beautiful in his time.

ECCLES. iii. II.

My God, I thank thee who hast made

The earth so bright,

So full of splendor and of joy,

Beauty and light;

So many noble things are here,

Noble and right.

A. A. PROCTER.

GOD, who art the unsearchable abyss of peace, the ineffable sea of love, the fountain of blessings, and the bestower of affection; open to us this day the sea of thy love, and water us with plenteous streams from the riches of thy grace, and from the most sweet springs of thy benignity strengthen our weakness, bind us closely unto thee, and fill us with gratitude for all thy blessings, for Jesus' sake. Amen.

SEEK ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. MATT. vi. 33.

SHINE on our souls, eternal God,
With rays of beauty shine!
Oh, let thy favor crown our days,
And all their round be thine!

Did we not raise our hands to thee,
Our hands might toil in vain ;
Small joy success itself could give,
If thou thy love restrain.

PHILIP DODDridge, 1775.

LORD, we pray thee that thy grace may always prevent and follow us, and make us continually to be given to all good works; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

STRENGTHENED with all might according to his glorious power, and all patience with joyfulCOL. i. II.

WHAT though my shrinking flesh complain
And murmur to contend so long?

I rise superior to my pain:

When I am weak, then I am strong!
And when my all of strength shall fail,
I shall with the God-man prevail.

CHARLES WESLEY.

LORD JESUS, hast thou not invited all that labor and are heavy-laden to come to thee for refreshment? Behold us, whensoever we are afflicted and oppressed, coming to thee for help: grant us thy heavenly strength, the fulness of thy grace and peace. Amen.

THE disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master. LUKE vi. 40.

CHRIST having lived for us as well as died,
Our human life is now a sacred tide.
To us our duties come whole and complete,
Waves which have rippled underneath his feet,
And by their holy pressure sanctified.

GRANT that there may be in us, O Lord, simple affection, brave patience, a pure mind, a right and clean heart, a good will, a holy conscience, a lífe unspotted and unblamable, like unto thine, O Christ, on earth. We ask it for thine own Name's sake. Amen.
