HIMSELF took our infirmities and bare our

sicknesses.

MATT. viii. 17.

O SAVIOUR Christ, our woes dispel,
For some are sick, and some are sad;
And some have never loved thee well,
And some have lost the love they had.

And none, O Lord, have perfect rest,
For none are wholly free from sin :
And they who fain would serve thee best
Are conscious most of wrong within.

HYMNS ANCIENT AND MODERN.

ALMIGHTY God, may it please thee by the whole

some medicine of the doctrine of Christ, to heal all the diseases of our souls, through the merits of the same thy Son Jesus, our only Saviour and Redeemer. Amen.

THE Lord redeemeth the soul of his servants; and none of them that trust in him shall be PSALM XXXiv. 22.

desolate.

FATHER, replenish with thy grace
This longing heart of mine;
Make it thy quiet dwelling-place,
Thy sacred, inmost shrine !
Forgive that oft my spirit wears
Her time and strength in trivial cares;
Enfold her in thy changeless peace,
So she from all but thee may cease.

ANGELUS, 1657.

MAY thy servants, O Lord, who have been called by thy grace, be unceasingly protected by thy help: that they may never be plucked away from the power of chy kingdom; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

WHEN my father and my mother forsake me,

then the Lord will take me up.

PSALM Xxvii. 10.

Now as long as here I roam,

On this earth have house and home,
Shall this wondrous gleam from thee
Shine through all my memory.
Whom the Strongest doth defend,
Whom the Highest counts his friend,
Cannot perish in the end.

PAUL GERHARDT, 1650.

ALMIGHTY and most merciful Father, whose paths are always mercy and truth, grant, we beseech thee, that we who are fostered by thy tenderness, may also grow up with an increase of piety, and at last be vouchsafed eternal rest with the righteous; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

NOW the God of peace make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ. HEB. xiii. 20, 21.

AL

O WAY through whom our souls draw near
To yon eternal home of peace,

Where perfect love shall cast out fear,

And earth's vain toil and wandering cease,

In strength or weakness may we see

Our heavenward path, O Lord, through thee.
HYMNS ANCIENT AND MODERN.

LMIGHTY GOD, bring us, we pray thee, into the fellowship of heavenly joys: vouchsafe us an entrance into thy kingdom by the power of the Holy Ghost, that the lowly flock may reach that place, whither the mighty Shepherd hath gone before; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

WALK worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.

I THESS. ii. 12.

TEACH me to do thy will!
I cannot see my way;
I only pray thy gentle hand
May lead me lest I stray.

Teach me to do thy will!

To toil with patient love;

To win earth's weary-hearted ones
Unto thy rest above.

HETTY BOWMAN.

GRACIOUS God, who daily loadeth us with benefits, make us thy true children: give us thy new name, and at last secure for us a place in thy heavenly mansions. We ask it for Christ's sake. Amen.
