YOUR Father knoweth that ye have need of

these things.

LUKE xii. 30.

O Lord, how happy should we be,
If we could leave our cares to thee;
If we from self could rest:
And feel at heart that One above,
In perfect wisdom, perfect love
Is working for the best.

HYMNS OF THE AGES.

LORD, increase our faith, and pardon our unbelief, and still renew thy mercies to us; teaching us to live upon thy inexhaustible fulness for all things pertaining to this world, and that which is to come. ask it for Christ's sake. Amen.

We

FEAR not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. LUKE xii. 32.

O THOU pure light of souls that love,
True joy of every human breast,
Sower of life's immortal seed,

Our Saviour and Redeemer blest!

Be thou our Guide, be thou our goal:
Be thou our pathway to the skies;
Our joy when sorrow fills the soul;
In death our everlasting prize.

BREVIARY.

WE beseech thee, O Lord, to look upon thy servants,

whom thou hast enabled to put their trust in thee; and grant them both to ask such things as shall please thee, and also to obtain what they ask; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

TRUST in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. PSALM XXXvii. 3.

LORD, for thy rich salvation hear our prayer,
And daily give us an abounding share;
And let our souls, in all their poverty,
From deep-felt love be looking unto thee,
Until life's end.

CHRISTIAN GREGOR.

WE beseech thee, O Lord, to purify our consciences by

thy daily visitation: that when thy Son our Lord cometh, he may find in us a mansion prepared for himself; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

HE that is of a merry heart hath a continual

feast.

PROV. XV. 15.

BE merry, man, and take not sair to mind
The wavering of this wretched world of sorrow :
To God be humble, to thy friend be kind,
And with thy neighbors gladly lend and borrow :
His chance to-night, it may be thine to-morrow :
Be blyth in hearte for any aventure,

How oft with wise men it has been said aforow,
Without gladness availes no treasure.

WM. DUNBAR, 1479.

HEAVENLY FATHER, fill me with a lively faith, profound humility, pure affections, and universal charity raise in my soul all that zeal and devotion, that joy and delight, which becometh thy children, and make me by my life to glorify thee, through Jesus Christ my Lord. Amen.

BLESSED are they that have not seen, and yet

have believed.

JOHN XX. 29.

THOUGH Vexing thoughts may seem to last,
Let not thy soul be quite o'ercast;

Soon will He show thee all His wounds
And say, "Long have I known thy name,
Know thou my face alway."

KEBLE.

BE present, O Lord, to thy faithful people: and as

thou dost in thy compassion vouchsafe them a hearty desire to pray, grant them, O most loving, the aid of thy comfort, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
