THE Lord knoweth the days of the upright: and

their inheritance shall be forever.

PSALM XXXvii. 18.

EACH Scene in all my coming life
Is fully known to thee;

Thou knowest the joy, the grief, or strife
That will my portion be.

And joyfully my spirit, Lord,

I would to thee confide :

Oh! if thine arm but strength afford
I need no other guide.

M. C. C.

DISPOSE our days in peace, O almighty and merciful Jesus, so shall we ever praise thy Name, world withwithout end. Amen.

BE ye therefore followers of God, as dear chil

dren.

EPH. V. I.

GIVE me or pain or gladness at thy pleasure,
Give what thy wisdom and thy love may choose,
But be thou of my soul the hidden treasure,

And all that soul's defilement let me lose.

MRS. E. PREntiss.

CREATE in me, O Lord, a saving knowledge of thee and of my duty, a justifying faith, true sanctification, a purifying hope, an ardent love, and a filial fear of thee, a constant desire of displeasing thee, and a great tenderness of offending thee: for Jesus' sake. Amen.

AND they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels. MAL. iii. 17.

THEN mourn not thou the sainted dead,
To thy true heart so dear;
Each in his lowly, quiet bed
Slumbers, forgotten here.
Yet, in the courts of God above,

Their names, all radiant, shine;
Each secret deed of Christian love
Is known in that bright clime.

M. C. C.

KEEP us, O Lord, so truly in thy love and favor all our life long, that when thou callest us hence, we may be received into thine eternal rest, thy perpetual light, thy perfect peace, for the sake of Jesus our Lord. Amen.

I CAN do all things through Christ which PHIL. iv. 13.

strengtheneth me.

EVERY sorrow, every smart,
That the eternal Father's heart
Hath appointed me of yore,
Or hath yet for me in store,
As my life flows on I'll take
Calmly, gladly, for his sake,

No more faithless murmurs make.

PAUL GERHARDT, 1659.

THOU who bringest good out of evil, and light out of darkness, and dost nourish strength in the souls of those who patiently endure chastening at thy righteous hand, dispose us to an humble and thankful use of all thy dealings with us, even of those which are darkest to our mortal sight, and so to glorify thy holy Name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

I AM with thee, and will keep thee in all places GEN. xxviii. 15.

whither thou goest.

WHAT shall the future progress be
Of life with me?

God knows, - I roll on him my care,
Night is not night if he be there.
When daylight is no longer mine,
And stars forbidden are to shine,
I'll turn my eyes

To where eternal day shall rise.

HYMNS OF THE CHURCH MILITANT.

LORD, I know not what I should ask of thee, thou only knowest what I want, and thou lovest me better than I can love myself. Into thy hands I commend my future, knowing that all must be well. Bless me for my Saviour's sake. Amen.
