GEN. xxviii. 20, 21.

GIRT with the love of God on every side,
Breathing that love as heaven's own healing air,
I work or wait, still following my guide,

Braving each foe, escaping every snare.

"T is what I know of thee, my Lord and God,
That fills my soul with peace, my lips with song:
Thou art my health, my joy, my staff, my rod,
Leaning on thee, in weakness I am strong.

BONAR.

GRANT, merciful Lord, that hereafter we may not be

ashamed to confess the faith of Christ crucified, and manfully to fight under his banner, against sin, the world, and the devil, and to continue Christ's faithful soldiers and servants unto our life's end. We ask it for his Name's sake. Amen.

THE Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary.

ISAIAH 1. 4.

OH, teach me, Lord, that I
may teach
The precious things thou dost impart :
And wing my words, that they may reach
The hidden depths of many a heart.

Oh, give thine own sweet rest to me,
That may speak with soothing power
A word in season, as from thee,

To weary ones in needful hour.

FRANCES RIDLEY HAVergal.

To thee, O Lord, I dedicate, to the greater glory of thy name, my body and soul, with all their powers and faculties, and all my thoughts, words, and actions, that in them all thy blessed Name may be forever praised and glorified, for the sake of thine only begotten Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

WATCH ye and pray, lest ye enter into tempta

MARK XIV. 38.

That they are taken in the snare;

Therefore let us take heed,

When we have left the firmament of prayer
In daily walk of word and deed,
Lest we be taken unaware

In the net

Of sin, which we forget

Satan spreads everywhere.

GOD, the comforter of the humble and the strength of the faithful, be merciful to thy suppliants that human weakness, which by itself is prone to fall, may ever be supported by thee to stand upright, through Jesus Christ our Lord." Amen.

AND ye are complete in him.

COL. ii. 10.

I HAVE no wisdom save in him who is
My wisdom and my teacher, both in one,
No wisdom can I lack while thou art wise,
No teaching do I crave save thine alone.

Mine is the sin, but thine the righteousness:
Mine is the guilt, but thine the cleansing blood.
This is my robe, my refuge, and my peace,

Thy blood, thy righteousness, O Lord my God.
H. BONAR.

O LORD GOD, who seest that we put not our trust in anything that we do; mercifully grant that by thy power we may be defended against all adversity; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

NO man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the JOHN i. 18.

Father, he hath declared him.

HOLY, holy, holy! though the darkness hide thee,
Though the eye of sinful man thy glory may not see,
Only thou art holy, there is none beside thee
Perfect in love, in power, and purity.

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!

All thy works shall praise thy name, in earth, and sky,

and sea;

Holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty,
God in three persons, Blessed Trinity.

HEBER.

THOU art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory, and honor, and power for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created: to thee, therefore, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, do we ascribe all praise now and forever. Amen.
