I PETER ii. 7.

THOUGHTS of the Christ should rise at every turn,
And hold us all day long;

Alone, or when in crowds, each heart should hear
That blessed under-song.

C. M. N.

GRANT us, we beseech thee, O Lord our God, ever to rejoice in devotion to thee; because our happiness is perpetual and full, if we are continually serving the author of all good: through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

HOW great is his goodness, and how great is his. ZECH. ix. 17.

ONE there is above all others

Oh! how he loves!

His is love beyond a brother's

Oh how he loves!

Earthly friends may fail or leave us,
One day soothe, the next day grieve us,
But this friend will ne'er deceive us

Oh! how he loves!

THOU merciful Saviour, how great was thy love, which drew thee from the bosom of the Father to suffer death upon the cross for our redemption. Therefore will we praise thy Name, O Lord, our strength, our refuge, our deliverer, for ever and ever. Amen.

I KNOW that Christ will never chide
My sorrow, he hath wept and sighed;
I feel the pressure of his hand,
I know that he doth understand.
And thou, Lord, will be more to me,
For that dear one who is with thee;
Thus thou wilt fill the vacant place
In thy deep tenderness and grace.

LORD JESUS, when I am in sorrow, thou, and thou alone, wilt comfort me! Give me, O God, perfect submission to thy holy will, and unshaken trust in thy loving mercy; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

GOD loveth a cheerful giver.

2 COR. ix. 7.

GIVE! as the morning that flows out of heaven;
Give! as the waves when the channel is riven;
Give! as the free air and sunshine is given;
Lavishly, utterly, joyfully give.

Not the waste drops of thy cup overflowing,
Not the faint sparks of thy hearth ever glowing,
Not a pale bud from the June roses blowing,

Give! as he gave thee, who gave thee to live.

HELP us, O Lord, ever to remember that of all the good gifts of life to us thou art the giver and may we minister unto others, of our abundance or of our little, in the spirit of him who hath said it is more blessed to give than to receive. Grant this for Christ's

sake! Amen.

MY soul, wait thou only upon God; for my exPSALM lxii. 5.

pectation is from him.

THERE needs no higher, as no lower thought, Than simply this, by God's own spirit taught, "May Jesus every day in all things be

Well pleased in me !"

So shall thy raiment keep its spotless white,
Through all the darkest struggles of the night;
So shall it always be thy sweet reward
To please the Lord!

LOOK mercifully, O Lord, on us thy suppliants, and enlighten with thy healing goodness the secrets of our hearts; that no dark desires may have possession of those whom the light of heavenly grace has renewed: through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
