Evidences of Christianity by William Paley is a well argued, well-cited historical account of the evidences of Christianity by a scholar and theologian. It covers several varieties of argument, including philosophical appeals about the uniqueness of Christianity, as well historical arguments presented through the lenses of outsider historians from diverse cultures who wrote independent accounts and testimony about Christ and his followers. Moreover, the book describes the process by which the books of the New Testament Bible were compiled, revealing shockingly little conflict and very little room for the error and political faction we are so used to hearing. This book is not an easy read, and includes numerous citations and very thorough scholarship. It is neither a persuasively written work nor is it a light read. However, if a person has an open mind and is willing to commit themselves to the work entailed in reading and verifying the text, it provides almost insurmountable evidence for belief in the reality and authenticity of Jesus Christ.
