A fascinating and insightful book which gave me a far better understanding of the history and nature of the longstanding Evolution-Creation struggle. The author sees rival eschatologies as essentially at the heart of that struggle, namely, the difference between an eschatology that rejects the possibility of human progress in the years ahead and one which embraces such progress as both possible and important. As far as learning something new goes, this is one of the best books I have read in a long time. ( )

Not a pleasant read but quite learned. Certainly covers the intellectual and cultural ground of this ongoing debate that just doesn't want to go away! ( )
